ACCESSIBILITY / EDUCATION

Make your courses and school website usable for every student

WCAG 2.2 AA audits and code fixes for schools, course creators, and learning platforms - course pages, documents, video, and enrollment forms.

01 THE PROBLEM

Why it matters

  • Every class includes students with disabilities

More than 1 in 4 US adults have some type of disability. Course material that only works for some students leaves the rest behind.

Source: CDC: Disability Impacts All of Us

  • Documents and video are the usual gaps

Untagged PDFs and videos without captions shut out students who rely on screen readers or captions.

  • Enrollment starts with a form

If the enrollment or sign-up form fails with a keyboard, the student never gets to the course.

02 CODE, NOT WIDGETS

Why not just install a widget?

Accessibility widgets add a toolbar on top of your site, but they don't fix the code underneath. Many screen reader users turn them off because they get in the way of their own tools.

Regulators have also taken action against misleading marketing of these overlays. We take the slower but honest route: we fix the actual HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, so the site works with the assistive technology people already use.

  • Overlay widget: a toolbar on top, code unchanged
  • add.black: issues fixed in your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

27 issues by severity

  • 3 Critical
  • 7 Serious
  • 12 Moderate
  • 5 Minor

Example issues

  1. Critical

The "Place order" button can't be reached with a keyboard
    What's wrong
The button is a styled <div>, so the Tab key skips it and screen readers don't announce it as a button.
    Who it affects
Keyboard users, screen reader users, people using switch devices.
    How we fix it
Replace it with a real <button> element and add a clearly visible focus style.
  2. Serious

    Checkout fields have no labels
    What's wrong
Fields only use placeholder text, which disappears while typing and isn't read reliably.
    Who it affects
Screen reader users, people with memory or cognitive disabilities.
    How we fix it
Add visible <label> elements, autocomplete attributes, and error messages linked to each field.
  3. Moderate

    Sale prices have low contrast
    What's wrong
Light gray price text on white has a contrast ratio of 2.8:1 (minimum is 4.5:1).
    Who it affects
People with low vision, anyone reading on a phone outdoors.
    How we fix it
Darken the text color to reach at least 4.5:1 without changing the design.

09 FAQ

Questions

Do you fix PDFs and course documents?

Yes. We audit documents linked from your site and either fix them (tags, reading order, alt text) or turn key content into accessible web pages.

Do you work with LMS plugins?

Yes, on WordPress (for example LearnDash or Tutor LMS). For hosted platforms we audit what you control - content, theme, and embeds - and document platform issues you can raise with the vendor.

Will this make my website ADA compliant?

No one can honestly guarantee a legal outcome. WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard most commonly used to evaluate web accessibility, and we audit and fix against it. For legal questions, consult an attorney.

Do you use an overlay or plugin?

No. We fix the source code.

How long does it take?

Free check: 1-2 business days. Audit: about a week for a typical small business site. Remediation depends on the site.

Which platforms do you work with?

WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Laravel, and most custom sites.

Do I need to give you access to my site?

Not for the check or audit. For fixes, yes - or we can hand the fixes to your developer.

Where are you based?

We are a remote studio based in Europe, available during US business hours.
