Examia is our own SaaS product: an AI test generator for teachers, lecturers and tutors. A teacher uploads a textbook, lecture notes or a video - or just types a topic - and gets a ready multiple-choice test in minutes, shares it with students by link and sees the results right away. We designed, built and run it end to end.

What we built
A Laravel web application with AI test generation at its core, plus a marketing site and a public test library.
Test generation
- Many input sources: PDF, DOC/DOCX, Pages, TXT, EPUB, FB2 and DJVU files, YouTube videos (via subtitles), public URLs, or just a topic description
- Handles large documents - up to full books - and builds a complete question bank from them
- Questions built only from the uploaded material, with a link back to the source
- Editable questions and answers, and a question library organized by subject
Sharing, results and export
- A unique link for every test - students open it from a chat or email, no registration needed
- Live results table: who finished, scores and which questions students missed
- LMS-ready export: Moodle XML, Canvas and Blackboard QTI, Google Forms and Google Sheets
- File export to PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, JSON, Markdown and YAML - with an answer key or as a clean student version
Product and growth
- Bilingual site (Ukrainian and English) with landing pages for each use case: tests from a PDF, a book, a video, a curriculum, English tests and more
- Public test library with ready-made tests by subject, built for programmatic SEO
- Subscription plans for individual teachers and a B2B plan for schools and universities, with Google sign-in
Infrastructure and support
Separate dev, staging and production environments on our own server, Cloudflare in front, and automated deploys from GitHub Actions on every release. We keep shipping new features, integrations and content every week.
Result
A live product that takes a teacher from a stack of material to a test in their LMS in minutes - and a working example of how we build: senior engineering, AI where it actually saves time, and a product we run ourselves every day.
